The Greater New York Chamber celebrated their annual Black History Legends Awards Breakfast this year with amazing Honorees and Presenters.
Senator Charles Schumer greeted everyone by announcing the news about President Biden's Supreme Court nominee pick Ketanji Brown Jackson. Board Member & Chair of Veterans' Affairs Committee, Terrance C. Holliday Retired USAF Colonel was the co host. 1010 Wins News Anchor presented the Bill McCreary Legend Award to Jane Tillman Irving, Groundbreaking WCBS Reporter. Ingrid Lewis - Martin, Chief Advisor to Mayor Eric Adams for her dedication to NYC was presented by Emblem Health, George Hulse; Leroy Barnes, Post Commander for VFW for his leadership & Service to our country was presented by NYC Veterans Affairs Commissioner, James Hendon; Vanessa L. Gibson, the First Female, Black Bronx Borough President was presented her award from the Bronx District Attorney, Darcel Clark; Voza Rivers (Producer & Founder of New Heritage Theatre Group) was presented his ward from Howard Teich of the Howard Teich Network, Deborah Koenigsberger, Hearts of Gold Founder was recognized by Betsy Polivy for "Helping mothers & their children succeed", Sandra Lindsay, Northwell Health and Critical Care Nurse was honored for being the first nurse for the covid shot was presented by Noreen Henriquez of JPMorgan Chase & Co. sponsor of this Black History Awards Reception. Brittany Johnson was awarded for being Broadways First Black Glinda in the Play "Wicked". We also were honored with a Special Performance by “Comedy in Harlem” by comedian and Owner Nicky Sunshine.
