World Trade Week Annual Awards Celebration
This year’s World Trade Week NYC celebration, held at The Korean American Association of Greater New York Headquarters, brought together world and governmental leaders to celebrate international trade and cooperation. The event underscored the importance of collaboration and partnership in today's global economy, providing a platform for networking, establishing connections, and exploring growth opportunities in the international trade sector.
The participation of high-level officials and trade ministers highlighted the significance of the event. NYC's International Trade Commissioner Edward Mermelstein, Acting Chief Executive Officer of U.S. Customs & Border Protection James McCament, and Deputy Chief Security Officer of the Port Authority of NY and NJ, Danielle M. Outlaw, were all recognized for their roles in promoting international trade and economic development.
The special Asian American and Pacific Islander "AAPI" heritage celebration included notable figures such as Sibu Nair, Governor Hochul’s Deputy Director of Asian Affairs; Benedict Uy, Trade Commissioner of the Philippine Consulate General of NY; Mr. Md. Najmul Huda, Consul General of Bangladesh in N.Y.; Man-Li Lin, Economic Development Specialist at the U.S. Small Business Administration; Kwang Kim, President of the Korean American Association of Greater New York; Danial Akhtar Abd., Consul at the Consulate General of Malaysia; and Amit Shah, Community Board 6 member and Co-Chair of the GNYCC world trade committee.
Other key highlights of the event included Arthur Aidala (NY's Super Lawyer, radio host and TV commentator) receiving the Dr. Lucio Caputo Statesman Award and the MOU signing ceremony between various chambers of commerce. Dr. Caputo was the former Italian Trade Ambassador, lawyer, media expert and a promoter of Italian wines. foods & cheeses. The MOU ceremony featured Vishal Harsh, Trade Minister of the Consul General of India and the Presidents of the Indian Chamber, Greater NY Chamber, the Orthodox Jewish Chamber and the Korean American Chamber of Commerce. The MOUs signed underscored the importance of international trade in promoting economic growth and fostering diplomatic relationships.
The event included NY's Best Networking & fantastic catering by National Small Business Award winning Latin Fusion Restaurant Guarapo (guarapobrooklyn.com), Sal Mozzarella catering and Wall Street Grill. The Greater NY Chamber's World Trade Committee helps its members export billions of dollars globally and is a part of the NYC World Trade Committee; an active network of over 70 organizations in the New York metro region collaborated to promote international trade and economic development, reflecting a strong commitment to enhancing global trade relations.
