Celebrating Juneteenth

June 18, 2020

As we march towards economic justice and safety for all who live and work in our community; we need to remember that discrimination comes in many forms. Today, COVID 19 has exposed the economic discrimination in our system. The Greater NY Chamber has led the fight for $15 minimum wages in NY and now we see that our federal government is willing to pay unemployed low wage workers even more. Business needs labor and now there are Payroll Protection Program “PPP” loans” that are forgivable! Today June 19th 2020, we celebrate Juneteenth, a National Holiday that will help us remember Black History and the fact that we need more fairness and equal rights for everyone, regardless of the color of their skin. The Greater New York Chamber of Commerce commits to continuously fight and stand for freedom, justice and equality.
